Agreed although even in Quebec the NDP growth was still gathering steam if opinion polls turn out to be correct.
Outside the ridings where they have been competitive in the past or targeted this time, I suspect the NDP wouldn't have the time or resources to identify its new voters to pull them on advance polling days.

Interesting comments. If there is a continuing wave of rising NDP support, then the votes in the box would not reflect this. However, recall that what EKOS was reporting was what was already out there. In Quebec at least (if EKOS is right) the advance polls will still show pretty astonishing numbers. The high turnout, if it is a "throw the bums out" instead of convenient long weekend, could further skew to those motivated for change. Finally, parties try to get supporters out early because there is less ground game on E-Day, so some of that vote is a sewn-up vote.

That's not correct. The advance polls were on October 3,4 and 6, 2008 - the week before Thanksgiving. Election day itself was Tuesday October 14, 2008, the day after Thanksgiving Monday.

Federal elections are held on Mondays but because that Monday was a holiday the voting day was switched to Tuesday.
