Large woodland areas are clear cut to make way for farmland.

According to a study at the University of Guelph, Ottawa has the largest agricultural economy of any city in North America.

This agricultural boom, combined with urban development, has destroyed large parts of original woodlands.

With it, diversity of the land is threatened.
