{"id":458,"date":"2008-09-24T13:11:26","date_gmt":"2008-09-24T18:11:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/election08.cusjc.ca\/?p=458"},"modified":"2008-09-24T14:35:57","modified_gmt":"2008-09-24T19:35:57","slug":"culture-en-peril","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cusjc.ca\/?p=458","title":{"rendered":"Culture en p\u00e9ril?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>JEFF SALLOT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>New media in the form of a hilarious YouTube video could make life difficult for Conservatives in Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>The video, titled Culture en p\u00e9ril, has gone viral with more than a half-million viewers in the last five days.<\/p>\n<p>It depicts Quebec singer-songwriter Michel Rivard appealing before a board of clueless federal bureaucrats for a small cultural grant for a folk festival.<\/p>\n<p>The board consists of a bunch of Anglophones who clearly do not understand what Rivard is talking about. They become alarmed when they think he&#8217;s using the old anglo-saxon F-word when in fact he is using the French word phoque. It gets even funnier after that.<\/p>\n<p>The bureaucrats are seated in front of a Big Brotherish portrait of Stephen Harper. The back drop to the portrait is an American flag.<\/p>\n<p>The message is clear.
