{"id":73,"date":"2008-09-10T09:49:31","date_gmt":"2008-09-10T14:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/election08.cusjc.ca\/?p=73"},"modified":"2008-09-10T19:42:58","modified_gmt":"2008-09-11T00:42:58","slug":"more-about-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cusjc.ca\/?p=73","title":{"rendered":"More about women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong><span>Paul Adams<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>Further to my post yesterday about the Tories\u2019 decisive lead among men, and the Liberals\u2019 struggle to maintain their traditional lead among women, this from the Globe this morning (based on Strategic Counsel\u2019s work in battleground ridings):<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><em>The poll also indicates that the Conservatives&#8217; strength in battleground ridings is fuelled by a commanding lead among male voters, those with higher incomes, and voters over 50.<\/em><em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><em>The Liberals, who typically need a lead among female voters to win, are trailing the Tories among women in the B.C. and Quebec battlegrounds, and are essentially tied among women in the Ontario battleground.<\/em><em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><em>\u201cIt used to be almost mirror image, where the men would disproportionately go for Conservatives. Now [the Conservatives] have still got their advantage with men and they&#8217;ve evened the score with women,\u201d Mr. Donolo said.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Peter Donolo knows, of course. He was Jean\u00a0<span>Chr<\/span><span lang=\"EN-CA\">\u00e9tien<\/span>&#8216;s communications director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><em>Paul Adams is a former political reporter with CBC and the Globe and Mail.
